I dropped off an echobit flip to my fab guy a few weeks ago and just got pricing back.

Before I pull the trigger and have him spit out a bunch I want to see if there is any interest first.

These by no means compare to the flips made by ORD or DIY4X, but for the weekend warrior these fit the ticket, and they don't require the tank to be dropped to install or the need to cut off the factory hanger.

Cost should be right around $140.

That seems awful high priced? I always saw that as like a 50$ part. Isn't it just 2 plates with a few bolts? Or am I thinking of something else

The diy4x flip is only 175, and it is a quality part.

I think the only way you would make it with that is to price it at the original price which if i remember right was like 85 bucks or something.

Not to be cheap or anything. But I was thinking more like $75. If it was that cheap, I think it would sell like wildfire To the novice mall crawling types. I am sure though that you would have to have them produced in a large number in order to get them down to that price which is a huge investment to make.

I do wish you well though.

When I was thinking of fabbing these exact things a few years ago, I was getting positive vibes from others with a $100 price tag for a pair. Any higher than that and most commented that they would buy the ORD or DIY flip for the added strength. The only thing the Echobit is good for is two words: cheap and quick. So keep those words in mind if you want to make some sales with these. Otherwise I'd rather spend $35-$45 more to get a beefier product from ORD or DIY.

Echobit installs in about 10 minutes flat with no rivets to drill out, and no dropping of the gas tank. For a lot of guys just starting out, it's a much more "approachable" modification than a typical shacklefip kit. To me, THAT is the selling feature above all else.

I bought a brand-new Echobit flip kit many years ago. (still new-in-box) and had always thought that when I had spare time :haha: :haha: I would build about 100 of them to sell... Never got around to it, and probably never will..... At least not until BlazerBash 2019 is behind us. :D

Hence my quote of "cheap and quick". :waytogo:

I hear ya on the deaming of fabbing and selling on our spare time thing. Who has time for anything anymore nowadays? :doah::dunno::haha:

I tried my best to keep these under $100 and there is no way I can do that and be profitable. Cost of steel is a whole lot higher than it was when these were sold last and if these come to be they will be thicker than the originals.

Whats funny is the second pic shown above of them installed is my old 78:haha:

If you were to make them thicker like you say, i think it would be worth a $100. If i didnt just buy a DIY flip kit yesterday, i woulda said that i would buy this for sure! So much easier and quick, and damn does taking the gas tank out and then hooking the lines back up later bring the suck!! I never knew anything lile this exhisted.

Honestly I wouldn't pay more than 80 bucks for that type of shackle flip kit. it just looks like it's waiting to break at any moment

FWIW i was able to get my shackle flip done without dropping tank the second time i did it. I bet it could be done like that the first time. I just used a peice of fishing line and threaded it in the hole. then tied it to the tip of the bolt. then pulled it up and it pulled the bolt through the hole. did that 8 times and iwas done.

And you could get a wrench on the bolts to hold while tightening? Because my 31 gal tank is tight to the frame rails on both sides.

Hmm, Seems like I could make a decent profit making these and selling for $80

I've been wanting to buy a Plasma table for awhile now. Really what has been stopping me is that I have no place to put one, but that problem could possibly be solved soon.

Watch yourself...

I have them brackets on the back of my chassis that I bought, I had never seen them before. They will be replaced though cause the way I figure they add closer to 6 inches of lift, and I want not more then 4. Going back to a shackle flip like the rest of my trucks have had.

yup, this flip and an add a leaf nets a 6" lift with the stock shackle.

I didnt need to. All but one bolt stayed tight on the frame and didnt spin. the pressure of it pulling out was enough to keep it in place. the one that did spin i just took a pair of vice grips and barely held the tip of the bolt from the outside and used a wrench to turn the nut

the diy4x flip has nuts welded to plates shouldn't need to get a wrench up there.

I pulled my back bumper and used a extendable magnet to get one started, then a bar to get the other nut lined up. Never pulled my tank. Just accessed the nuts, that are welded to a plate to prevent spinning, from the back of the frame.

Op, i was thinking that was a bit high, but after pointing out the obvious, i do see that not dealing with rivets is the main benefit of this kit. Also, anyone with a welder can ad serious beef in very little time. Ive seen guys just cut the bottom of theyre stock hangar out and BEAT on them without failure. I know a guy that has a CUCV with 42's. His are just cut, and flipped. Never had a problem. I believe they seem a little expensive, but they can be installed in very little time, and in my opinion, are plenty strong for 95% of us. Off road or not.

For cheapness, the homebrew shackle flip wins every time. Installing the echobit flip by itself is quick (at least as quick as anything can be with removing spring bolts), but the extra lift could also be the deciding factor between needing to install angle shims under the springs or not. At nearly 6" from shackle, it seems the pinion angle would be too high even for a K5 with a CV shaft.
