Saturday we did a little evening wheeling and I got kind stuck in a ditch with loose dirt. I had to get hard on the gas to make it out and when leaving the ditch I lifted my left front tire about 3 feet and when I landed the outer shaft broke, u-joint broke, upper and lower ball joint broke and my steering damper got bent into the shape of a banana. Fortunately my buddy had spareparts in his house so he went back to get them and we fixed the truck on the spot. Now, what kind of spares do you guys carry for the front(10 bolt), I guess to start with I need to get a set of extra ball joints, u-joint and outer shaft, what else?

Well , I haven't had any money for ball joints yet , I do carry two axleshafts complete , my original brake hoses , I have a spindle and bearings I need to put in my box ASAP just neglected to , have 28 spline spiders , gear oil , and my trailbox lid holds gallons of gear oil :xmas:

10 bolt spare parts list:

1 pinion yoke
1 front driveshaft
1 set (both sides) of spare axleshaft with stubs and new ujoints installed
1 spindle
1 locking hub
1 set (L&R) stock knuckles with ball joints in them
1 set (1 side) of used ball joints
1 set (for 1 side) wheel bearings
1 TRE (my TRE's are all the same part # when I did crossover)
2 spare stock draglinks (incase I break my crossover steering)
6 ea. 4"x9/16" Grade 8 bolts for my crossover steering arm (incase I shear the bolts again)

All necessary tools to change any of the parts above.

Eventually I will stick a set of stock spiders in my trail box just because.

Yep thats pretty common to blow out like that. Watched a buddy do nearly the same thing. Tire spinning hit the cought, Blew the u-joint the remaining parts act like a guillotine and cut the lower ball joint nut off. Off comes the knuckle.

I carried a spare set of ball joints just in case. Eventually upgraded to Warn shafts and CTM's. Sold my K5. The Warn shafts and CTMS are listed in the for sale forum. http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113947
