Cracked the passenger side exhaust manifold, been like that for a while before I actually found it. I am noticing loss of power. (which I never thought I could actually say, since I don't have the strongest engine anyways) How long before I jack something major up? Specially with winter coming? A new one is 115.00 that is nuckin futZ. But needs to be changed. I have to drive this everyday so anyadvise other than change it.

Might be loosing power due to the leak messing with the O2 sensor. I'm thinking TBI has the O2 sensor on the drivers side up high, so may not matter at all. Could affect EGR operation (so cruise performance) too I suppose, but that would be grasping.

You ain't fixing it any other way than replacing it IMO. I've heard reman ones are as low as $45, no source though. Used ones are fine as long as they aren't cracked.

Rockauto has pass side for $89.

Or if you need a Good used one, I can sheck, I probably have one.

Other than an annoying exhaust leak, I doubt a cracked exhaust manifold will affect anything. That is, until it cracks all the way around. Then you'll definitely need to replace it.

I bet you could get one from a junkyard for $10-20 but most of them will be super rusty and some might have cracks just like yours.

If I were you, I'd watch craigslist and put an ad up here. Lots of people ditch their stock manifolds for headers and I bet there are some people that would be willing to give you one of theirs for free (I know I threw mine away a long time ago).

Its cracked all the way around. Well I think the side attatched to the block is not cracked but the rest is. Thanx for all the ideas I will try them asap.

Cracked OR shrank beyond enlarging a couple holes to make it bolt back up again.

If I was ever going to run manifolds again, I'd try reaming a couple of the holes out a bit larger and see if I could make it fit. You are right, I've had two manifolds that shrank enough that they wouldn't bolt up. But it was close enough I think a bit of bolt hole clearancing would have solved it. :)

The reason you you seem to be loosing power is prolly the knock sensor. The KS is located on the passenger side. It is picking up the exahust leak and retarding timing.
My old stock manifold warped on the passenger side. It had a bad leak I lost power. Put my scanner on it and knock counts were way high from the leak. Fixed it with a set of good headers.

I think the only thing that changed on the 5.7 until it went away regarding exhaust manifolds was how the AIR, EGR and O2 sensor were run.

Of course there are differences in manifolds in general (over the plug, under, rams horn, etc) but I *think* maybe late 80's or early 90's, the truck manifolds were standardized in their overall shape. Could be wrong, but all the later truck manifolds I've seen ('87+) are the same in regards to shape, being underplug.

did you get it fixed? i got a set of manifolds you can have for 5.7.

sorry, ithough it said '09. that's what iget for staying up late.
