broke my 44

didnt even hear it go, in addition i overheated the piss out of my engine, blew out my upper radiator hose, temp gauge stopped working the day before, guess i should have fixed it.

That doesn't look like too bad of breakage. Didn't rip the knuckle off. Swap in a new shaft/stub shaft and you're good to go again. May want to keep an eye out for a D60 though.
 
i got some d44 shafts here that i been trying to give away for some time. i only run the 10 bolt stuff and got no use for this garbage :p:
 
im getting some chrome moly shafts, i only have 35s on this truck and i never plan on going any bigger on this truck. it was just weird i would have though that i would have heard it.
 
Just curious, what where you doing when it broke? and are you locked in the front end?

I see some rust where it snapped off the cross, it may have been barely hanging on when it blew
 
the u joint was brand new, but when i assume it broke was when i was trying to climb up a snow/ice mound and not go into the gate to get to the cabin, no my front diff is open
 
On a D44 full circle snap rings can help a bit in cap retention as well.
 
i think it broke cus it was the weaker shafts of the 44s, cus when i put the ujoints in i found out it took the smaller ones so i figured it might be an issue
