Broken 14 Bolt FF

So my friend is spinning doughnuts on wet sand/dirt today in 2wd in his K5... a 400+hp full roller big block motor spinning 38" Dick Cepeks through an open 14 bolt FF with 4.88 gears... and clank.

He stops. We check it out and shifting from drive to reverse, the driveline and yoke spins about 3/4 of a turn before it catches.

Teeth on the ring gear?

Was that the guy with the 454 and the lead foot on Sat? That truck sounded awesome.

That would be him. Thats one powerful motor in that. After we put a temporary radiator in it last night (shortly after you left, his fan hit his radiator), he said he would take it easier today. Lets just say todays RPMs were comparable to what he was turning on Saturday.

I'd say spider gears since it's open.

I wanted to tell him spiders, but I didnt want to give his hopes up if it turned out to be worse, so I didnt say anything.

Hopefully it is just the spiders, cause he wanted to get a locker anyway.

Well, I said it was open (cause he said it was open I thought), but I found out today that it was a Gov Loc... which explains more to me in my mind about the what and why.
