this sound s like a common prob arond the blazer world anyhow i found a used bracket to replace the borken one do i hve to weld it back on or casn i use hardend grade steel bolts with self locking nuts????????? will the bolts work??? who has done this ????:dunno:

Very common. If theres cracks in the frame then you need to take a drill bit about twice as wide as the crack and drill holes in the ends of the crack to stop it from running further.

Then just weld your mount back in and plate it a little.

top braket on the rear drivers side, and i got a bracket at a truck salvage yard for $25 just have to go get the grade 8 bolts, washers and self locking nuts and then weld the bracket on after its bloted in . and do some more research on inboarding kit for my K5.

I have a question, not trying to thread jack or anything... but recently this just happened to me too and I've been trying to find a better solution and this product on the DIY4X.com seems like a good option, does anyone have any experience with it?

Kurts stuff is top notch. The inboarding kit he has is very nice. I originally didnt think it was worth the price until I fabbd a much cruder one myself and realized how much of a PITA it was to get the angles right and clearance everything good...

Hmm, ok another question about it.. is it for a specific kind of application or just a good general purpose alternative? because it seems that its kind of a crappy place to get to for the stock location and if this is a common thing... I'd like to prevent this from happening to my other side :) also, there's not much instruction on the website for it... but I did find this one where he relocated the mounts on the axle, is this necessary? (they were relocated to the bottom rear of the axle) sorry for so many questions but I just want to make sure this application is for me.

Thanks in advance

This is a good thread. Never too many questions. I don't quite understand the purpose of inboarding the shocks myself...

to get the most out of your shock ! because it seems the location of these shock mounts and possible weak metal of couse over time has or does cause them the {mount} crack and break . thats my opinion on the cause of these monts breaking.. someone also mentioned that having to much travel on the shock that will cause the mount to break as well ...... but this inboarding kit is a great idea and i will travel down that path in time .... but first im bolting on anther stock bracket for now got a ton of other stuff to do first to my 83 k5 blazer

was tired of tighten the bolts on original bracket, made this maybe 3 years ago ,never had a problem since! used the holes in the frame for tailpipe hanger, and top original bolts. its and 1984.
