I went to fill up the truck with gas a week ago and when I closed it, I heard a pop and then the door just flopped around. The spring inside fell or broke off. Now I drive around and the door closes when I accelerate and opens when I brake. All I need now is all the people to flag me down telling me my gas door is open.
Anyways, found a YouTube on a Corsica and figured they must be about the same....ours is easier.
Hit junkyard and found one from a Suburban. $8 later and it's mine.
At the gas door, remove the 3 phillips screws, and the two Torx screws. Pull the gas neck over to the left a bit to allow room for door and bracket to come out.
One I got it out saw that there was a small, thin part of the bracket that broke off.
