I have a fuel guage that doesn't work properly. It reads a 1/4 tank alll the time. I'm not sure if the guage on the panel is stuck, or if the fuel float in the tank is stuck. Wondering how to trouble shoot, fix etc.

On another note do speedometer cables break very often? I have never experienced this problem before.

The guage itself may be fuggered. Usually a sender problem results in either "full" all the time or "Empty" all the time. The '83 I just got would read 3/8 tank when stuffed full, but the needle would drop as fuel was consumed. I replaced the fuel guage and it works just fine now.

Speedo cables do wear out.

rene - mine is full at a 1/4 tank. but i've put in a couple different guage sets and nothing changes - what say you to that?

Then it's a problem with the float / sender.

I'd probably check the wiring first before dropping the tank though.
