Ok the Jimmy was broken into a couple months ago and they really screwed some things up.:doah: I finally had a chance to open up the steering column and figured out that the ignition rack thinkgy is whats broken. ( please see pic for exact piece) The half moon part is completely gone now and the ignition key cylinder just turns and wont do anything ( no acc power, no crank, nada) What do i do? Can I repair that? or do i need a new column? The problem is that I moved and its at the old apartment still! So I need to get it gone by this weekend. Can I turn it on in this condition? Sorry lots of ??? but im lost with what to do.

I think the quickest thing would be just to rig/hotwire it to get it moved. If you want to repair, I'm sure the parts are available, but it seems like it'd be much easier to swap columns.

It looks like lock rotates forward, causing the actuator rod to be pulled back toward you. Is this correct? Could you just pull on the rod to get it to crank?

What year of truck is this? I have my factory wiring manual right here next to me.

the actuator rack can be replaced, it's not that big of deal. I believe you can get one at O'reily's.

If you go to any gm dealer, and tell them that it was broken into, they should know exactly what parts you need. The rack will come with some other parts, that you'll also need, then all you will need is the cover.
