I broke off the first 30' of my winch cable. I'm thinking it is still long enough for me, plus, I don't want to spend the money for a new cable.

Is there a good / safe way to reattach the hook? I'd hate for it to come apart while pulling.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Eric M.

A lot of places sell the correct wire rope fittings. Just be sure they are rated at or above the capacity of the winch.

You may also need to cut the wire rope off clean a couple feet back from where it broke.

So what's the story behind breaking the cable? :)

Yeah,

You're looking for some wild wheelin' story ... well, I hate to dissapoint you. I was pulling a car onto a trailer (ran the cable under the truck, over the trailer and to the car). car was bottom out on the trailer, I was getting tired and impatient, pulled the trigger the wrong way and instead of backing the car off,I yanked the hell out of everything and snapped the cable.

kind of embarrassing ... now you know why I didn't wat to post it!

haha... time to pick up a cheap-o atv winch and mount it on the trailer...
