hello im curious on how i can fix my wiper control arm as it is currently stuck on fast and i have to pop the hood to engage or disengage it. the problem all started awhile back when i was up in the bush doing some rough 4x4ing and i believe that i hit the control arm with my leg or something, anyways the signals still work (except for the traditional failure or the cancel springs) but i can not adjust the wipers from inside anymore. I was curious to what i need to do to restore them is this a common problem??
ill post pics tomorrow if needed

go to autozone.

go to the section that has all the fix-it-yourself stuff

buy a new turn signal cam ( you said it messes up sometimes right)

buy a new w/w switch - control arm

I think you can unhook the wiring harness on the old one at the bottom of the steering column and hook the new up without installing it and make sure that is the problem before you go taking the column apart.

if that fixes your problem, take your steering wheel off and fix the switch and your turns signal cam

how come taking the column apart doesnt seem to be a fun thing

you don't have to take it very far apart. You will need a steering wheel puller.

Buy a Haynes manual at autozone...they show you how to do it.

so as anyone else had to fix this problem? see im wondering if the new arm with be able to operate the wipers as now there stuck on full constant power. im worried about what the wiper control arm slides into hoping that that piece is gonna be okay if i just bought the new arm. thanks alot of any info its much appreciated

i had that problem a while back when i was in high school. same thing, i broke off the lever with my leg. i bought the new cam and lever and tore down the column. it was really easy to take apart. and then i had to put it back together! ended up getting it towed to a shop cause i had made a mess! but that was me, if you know what your doing im sure its not that bad.

auto zone will loan

you the puller and the lock plate compressor for free (30 $ deposit for both)
