1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442

Full power
8.5" factory rear (much better than the typical cutlass/monte rears)
307 olds
200r4

Paid $1450 :)

I plan on fixing it up first off. Theres a few spots the rust has gone to cancer that I need to address first. Mechanically my first step with it will be the 355 from the truck with the auto and a Megashifter. I'll probably drive it like that for quite some time but eventually I'd like to put a 406 with a TKO 5 speed in it.

Always laugh when ever I see these cars, they have a real strong axle for a car and an anemic motor. The rear is almost worth half what you paid for the car.

Paid 600.00 for this car when i was a junior in highschool. It had been sitting for 3 or 4 years in a barn. Factory Bucket Seats, floor shifter, T-tops and factory chrome ralley wheels.

Nothing major to get it running, paid the guy, aired up the tires and drove it home. Stopped at a car wash our high school cheerleaders were having, got 2 phone numbers and a super clean looking ride. Pimp-mobile. :woot:

Yeah the 305s in the montes move better than the 307 and the 8.5 is totally unneeded for it but its a good thing I wont have to upgrade. And yes they go for $800-$1000 around here cause theres alot of GN guys at the track here.

Ugh drool. Thinking classic w30 hood like this

With the classic paint scheme like this on the hood. Against my car it would be blue hood with the scoops silver. I cant wait....:woot:

Indian Ponies

Around here that body style is very popular with our Native American population, and often referred to as an Indian Pony.
Head to the reservations in Nebraska or South Dakota and you'll see lots of these. Most on blocks or four flats in the front yard, but many still running around also.
Had a Sioux cowboy working for me for a while, and he drooled over the non-operable one setting in our house renters yard. Said they are sure fire "kitty bait" on the Res, especially when they are jacked up in the rear, wide tires and tinted windows.
I've always liked that body style, but never owned one.
Nice Find!!

I had an 84 when I lived in Arizona...

One night I ran to the store and as soon as I parked I was surrounded by cops... Guns drawn, yelling at me to get on the ground... They cuffed and stuff me, then tore my car apart...

The whole time I had no idea what was going on... My wife was at home worried because it had been hours and I was only running to the store and back...

Come to find out that a car identical to mine was involved in a drive by shooting just blocks away earlier that evening... Well, I only lived blocks away... The cops thought for sure they got their man...

Finally they figured out that it wasn't me and let me go...

The next morning I traded it in...

I was freaked out just driving it to the car lot to get rid of it... My wife wouldn't even go with me... She said she didn't care what I got as long as that car was gone...

one of the few good hotrod bodies of the 80's...

80s G bodies are my favorite cars of all time...

I know its weird to like a muscle car out of the 80s when there were so many in the 60s and 70s but theres just something about them that I like. Maybe cause theyre "my generations" classic.

F-Bodies are my favorite, but G-Bodies are close in there after squarebody GM trucks. Beautiful car.

Too bad smog equipment and new regulations made motors the worst ever for these years of awesomeness

I had 2 Regals in high school, first one was an 83, I totaled it, 2nd one was an 81 with the luxury interior. Damn comfortable car and nice roomy back seat :D. Both had the 231 non turbo V6 so neither one was fast but a real nice ride otherwise. Still want to build one, can't decide either LS engine and 6 speed or get a GN or T-type.

Nice find. Of the 78-87 G bodies I have always been a Buick fan. I had a 78 back in the day with the turbo 6. Really liked the car especially after I installed a suspension kit from Suspension Techniques. It came with progressive rate 2" drop front and rear coils and replacement front and rear sway bars that were a vast improvement over the stock ones. That car would handle after that.

Would love to have another one someday with a Buick Stage 1 spec 455, Richmond 6 speed, 9" rear and a more modern suspension. Total sleeper ride, talk about spanking some ass at the stop lights with all the torque those Buick 455's made. :saweet:

Yeah I was going to stay true to the olds and find a 455 but the chevy change over just makes everything so much cheaper.

Agreed100%
I had a 86 Monte SS in up until i was 20 and traded it for a pre smog ride-
mistake rode like hell and didnt do D**k in the handling department

4 years later before my son was born my aunt called me telling me my late uncle had an 84 Grand Prix (she called it a california special, has t-tops and buckets)and it had been sitting in a carport in mississippi for 8 years , she wanted to know if i wanted it . I said hell yeay g-bodies are a great foundation. $675 in shipping later the mega clean machine showed up to the depot

Super clean-but super ugly- like the butterface of g-bodies
Awesome score btw:waytogo:

Yeah the Grand Pricks were the ugly ducklings of the G-bodies.

If you can keep it olds that would be kick ass, 455,or even a 425,if you can find one. just not a olds 350,they suck.
