when i boiught my k5 and replaced the PO's stereo, the groujnd was hooked onto a brown wire from the factory harness. im haveing issues with my dash lights and courtesy lights not working because the fuse pops everytime i throw the lights on

is this not a ground?

im lost here?

also, behind the drivers side vent there is a small block with some black wires. is this the ground to go into then?

Are you just looking for a ground wire to tap into?
If you are then take the wire you want to ground, put a connector on it and bolt it to the dash or other part of the body. Just make sure it's making contact with clean metal.

Yeh the brown wire is the parking, dash, ilumination wire. It shows ground when the lights are off and hot when you turn your lights on.
