Hello All,

Please let me know if you have seen this and what it could be. I changed the fluid and filter and noticed it bubbling or aireting. some minor slippage also at highway speeds -i hit the gas to pass, revs up goes nowhere and then shifts. It shifts good and crisp except when I want to pass on the highway. I used the recommended fluid so I know its right. No water in the fluid - had a mechanic look at it. Specs below

89 K5 - stock
350/ 700R4 - 235k on motor / approx. 80k on tranny
10 bolts front and rear
33" tires - 3 inch lift w/ Pro comp springs
Airaid thottle body spacer - my mechanic adjusted the trans. cable...

Thanks for your help!

Dave :D

You get the filter seated correctly, pulled the old seal out of the bore first? Didn't crack the pickup tube on the filter?

ya I pulled out the old seal and made sure the filter was seated properly- it always gets stuck in there. I did replace the seal that the dipstick tube goes in on top of the tranny. I 've heard its air or water making it aerate......

Also -the tranny has always been strong for me......I just don't want the tranny going boom somewhere remote.....

well my truck when I had a T400... the trans pan was dented... we actually had to take the pan off and replace the tube that went to the filter.. for some reason air would get sucked in and somehow rocket fluid up through the dipstick tube and shoot it all over the place.....

so mine was the tube.. it also slipped a bit too until we did that...

so all was good before the change?

if so then yeah id say most likely 1 of 2 things...
1. filter is not seated correctly.....
2. fluid will get shavings in it and when you flush a high mileage trans it can cause slippage.... this is the problem I have with my camaro... was good until I had the trans flushed at 125k miles.. now it slips.... oh well... 198k on it now.. so gonna bash it until it goes!!!!!

my mechanic said no water in it....it wasn't [pink in his opinion...... well I guess I'll change the filter and fluid again. I would rather do that then have to replace the tranny.

Thanks for all your help guys!

If you had water in it the fluid would look like a strawberry milk shake. Sounds like you are sucking air. The way things are made now days the filter could have a crack or a leak somewhere and sucking air. Drop the pan again and check things out. Dont drive untill fixed 700s wont last long running on low pressure.
