The wife did not see the value in this trade, man was she red faced.
The dodge was low on power and high gas, it had to go.

Its an all stock 89 :
350 with the elusive factory sm465, 241
4.10 and a gov locker
on 33" tires
The goal is to strap a dirtbike on the back and camp in it. Im short so ill fit barely. more to come

I started by dropping the gas tank and replace all the metal that was rusted around the tailgate20160209_183651.jpg 20160406_220400 (1).jpg
I also cut a large opening for fuel pump access. Then replaced the rear quarter panels.20160406_220347.jpg
I drove all summer with the top and doors off while doing rust repair. 20160720_165708.jpg
20160720_165714.jpg then i put sound deadener on. I took the sliding glass out that is cracked out

Im going to put these in the classified and the extra top that gave me solid glass

yeah for the most part. The interior is replaced and that helped alot, cause it was horrifying. She was scared to even get in it. Either she is coming around or has totally given up, so its all good.

Your's looks pristine. It's not rusty if you can't wiggle your seat belt mounts and see the ground through the floor board...

Yeah, I have patched in all the rust and primered everything but the hood. It has to be wet sanded to get the rust off, Then im going to bedliner it a darker gray.20161116_172037.jpgyou can kinda see the rust on the hood

I don't know about rust but I was looking at my hood the other night and it has a nice crack on the front right at the center. I'm thinking I am just going to use some steel strap and weld it to the back/inside and then weld and grind the hairline crack, then just cover it with some primer. My plans for paint are nonexistant, but I am thinking of covering all the panels in a sheet of vinyl that is colored brushed aluminum and then blacking out all the parts that are normally chrome. I was looking on ebay and found some sources that have big enough sheets to do the hood and the rear panels in one sheet,so I figure the only part that will take more than one large sheet is the cab, and I will probably just split it on the top at the middle since no one will really ever be seeing the top.

I would fix the crack just like you said.
I never thought of the vynil, it sound badass. I really want to see how that turns out.

Will be a while. Still working on the LS swap and the wiring. I'll definitely post up on it though. I'm focusing on all the mechanical stuff and the interior parts before I really move on to the outside.

I have an '88 also with the elusive SM465, I love it. I think it's my favorite thing about the truck.

Im thoroughly enjoying my sm465. Im just going to have to do a gear vendor overdrive one day.

Lmc replacement, the original blue carpet was black from all the water standing in it. The vynil fit ok-ish, I dont regret it
