Buggy/Truggy people. What kind of heater are you using?

I've decided to not use the Mojave for now as it is far cheaper to use the Non AC setup. I was able to get a Non AC setup for free.

Using the factory setup I will still be able to use the stock defrost setup. I'm sure the Mojave would work too but I still have enough firewall to use the stocker so I'll go with that.

Engine compartement looks bare without the AC setup though. I could have left it. The fan housing was just touching the outside of the skinned fender in its new position so it could have stayed. I was just trying to save every pound that the rollcage will suck back up. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Has anyone installed a non-stock heater (mojave, landcruiser, etc) that still draws outside air from the cowl, and is hooked to the defroster and dash vents? I want to eliminate the underhood portion of the stock heater, which would mean moving the fan inside and somehow pulling the air inside. The reason would be for tire clearance. Right now I have a halfassed homemade underhood box that was based on one from an S-10, IIRC. I basically cut and stretched it to fit the K5 firewall (originally an AC truck). I used this one since the fan turned the opposite direction of the K5 one, which afforded an extra inch or two of clearance, but never completed the install. I’m tired of the no heat deal, just wondering if there’s a better direction I should be taking.

Also, any comparisons on heat output for the mojave vs the stock heater? I remember back in the day my stock one worked really well.
