Just so everyone knows, after 10 years GM starts pulling VINs from their mainframe. If your truck or car is a 96 or older, there's a good chance you may run into the same issues as I have if you're trying to get info based on a VIN.
Okay, here's the update. It's all good.
The Carfax report I got show the original registration date being in June 1989. Obviously the truck was built at least a few months before then. I took the report to the mechanic and because it shows an actual Arizona title number, he's willing to accept the Carfax as evidence it was built prior to December 1st, 1989.
On a side note, I tracked down GM's Vintage Department, and for a $30 fee they can go through their archives and provide me with the actual build date. I don't need it now(unless for some reason the Alberta gov't decides a Carfax isn't sufficient), but if any of you want to write this number down, they can be contacted at
905-440-7689.
Thank God all this crap is finally dealt with, and not a minute too soon.
