Long story short. Im building a trailer, think "off road teardrop" , its going to be 12dcv with an invertor wired up just incase I need any 110v stuff. Anyways, im running 2 deep cycle batteries. Ill have an LED interior light, LED porch light, LED galley light, water pump for sink, automotive CD/DVD player for entertainment.

This will all be wired thru a fuse box. I use relays in all my off road lights on my Blazer, but wondering if that same principle will still be needed for this type of project. The trailer will be self contained off the batteries, ill have a recharger on board but that will be wired in later on.

Thoughts?

Assuming your loads are not high amperage, you should be fine without relays. Since the batteries are on board, you won't even have terribly long wire runs to worry about.

Nope, amperage will be kept at a minimum. LED lights run milliamps and im not sure what a CD/DVD car stereo pulls.

The water pump pulls 1.7amps @ 5psi and 2.0 @ 10psi.

Wiring will be within a few foot space. I will have the dvd player and water pumped fuel, and will have a BUSS fuse going from batts to fuse panel itself.

Ill probably add a BUSS fuse between invertor and batts also.

No, I havent built it yet.

Here is the one im going to loosely copy

Im just in the pre-planning stages. Ive got the pump mounted to the Off-Road water tank and brackets, so I was just thinking of the wiring and switches, etc.

my buddy had one of these in red for awhile.... pretty neat....

what kinda water pump are you using? hard to beat a boat pump....

ShurFlo 1.0gpm , boat pumps are the way to go. :D I just ordered the strainer to keep crap out of it from the tank.

I am thinking about the same project. Do you have a web site link for more information about the trailer pictured. I have completed a couple boat and rv projects. Must haves on my list are a full size bed with head room, sink, one burner stove, and a place to be able to sit but standing would be even better. A picture of my van project is below.

I know if LEDs became inoperable we would all have BIGGER problems, but all of my (admitttedly meager) prep plans that have LEDs have a backup incandescent plan.

Tin foil hats anyone?
