i just acquired a 84 cj that i have stripped down to frame blasted and por 15 it, and will be putting a zz4 in it if i can find headers that would work with those heads and the angle plugs and was wondering what tranny would be best for that now it had the t-5 not sure if that is gonna be able to handle that power, thanks.

depends on how big a tires you have and how hard you drive it. if you plan on using all that power, your gonna need another tranny. SM 465 or 420? those would be a couple of good simple to swap choices.

Drop the T5. Bottom line no grey area. The BEST T5 could only handle like 300 FTLBS of torque, and I can assure you they didnt put that one in the Jeeps. If you were staying w/ the 4 or 6 Id say run it till it blows, but w/ a decent SBC, youll kill it. Your swapping stuff anyhow, may as well do the tranny at the same time.
