building a home made trailer out of truck bed?

I've got one as well made out of an '83 3/4 ton. Very useful for hauling rock, wood, sand, OSB, sheetrock.....anything. I've had people give me a hard time about it being ugly, but it gets a lot of use and borrowed a lot at well. I'm going to make another out of my '86 2wd as well and sell it.

In Wisconsin, if it only has one axle, you don't need to register it.

Also, I cut mine right behind the front cab mounts, notched the frame right in front of the box, bent them inward, and bought one of these from Grainger. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/productIndex.shtml

And then went back and welding everything up good and solid.

wat about a chopping the back of a old suburban then u wouldnt need a cap for rainy days and make it longer then a log box.

"keep on truckin"

:haha: make sure to cut it right behind the front doors leaving one set so you can enter from the sides on the front.

Saw that at Blazer Bash and it looks good! :waytogo: I coulda swore there was a topper on the bed though. :dunno:

Has anybody made a "car hauler" style trailer out of a heavy duty truck frame? What about grinding the frame smooth off of a duece and a half that has basically been parted out and hanging some trailer axles underneath it, welding the trailer provisions up front and build a flat bed on top?

That would be a very heavy trailer.

Is Everyone in a trailer building mood? I am getting ready to build a custom cargo trailer 14' twin axle. I need a trailer for my business and i'm not dumping 4,000+ on one. plus this will be a nice little winter projected for me since my truck is done. I will be adding a hitch/3000+ rear springs to my blazer too. So I have my work cut out for me. The axles and trailer tongue are being stripped from a old 18' horse trailer.
