Things snowballed. At least it's not a crew cab on mogs.

Picture doesn't do it justice. I built myself a huge ass truck. Should have sheetmetal on it tomorrow and outside of the shop for pics that really show how big it is.

it doesn't look that big. the top of the tires are still above the rockers. 42's are nothing anymore. but if this was built from your old rig in your avatar I'm sure it seems huge. I remember bolting on the 44's for the first time. I couldn't stop giggling and muttering to myself that it was stupid big.

I was/am the same way. I knew it was going to be up there but dammit man. I didn't realize it was going to be THAT big. I'm still giddy, lol. Looking good though! :waytogo:

Maybe it is time to change the specs of the M-1028 in the sig :wink1:
Looks good BTW

staring and muttering.. that was me alright.

This morning my g/f asked me why I was dreaming about harry potter, because i kept saying 'ridiculous' in my sleep over and over. she thought I was doing the bogart charm (yes, i watched harry potter, no, that wasn't what I was dreaming about).

you eventually get used to the size. then you start looking for ways to lower it. :doah: thats were I am at right now. I would love for mine to sit as low as yours does. what are you running for a lift?

56's all around. The fronts are from a m1028 cucv, now 6 leafs, every other leaf removed from the original pack, zero rates, 7" shackles. Rears are the same packs, but only 4 leafs total, no zero rate.

I'm happy with how how low it is, I'm just going to have to limit up travel significantly.. which is alright, the leaf packs are almost flat as it sits.

More pics too, put the doors/fenders on tonight. Had to trim the fangs just a little bit to even get the fenders on the truck at all!

Dam now that's BIG. In the first pic, I was thinking nah, not big, just right. But then you added the sheetmetal, I thought WOW! You might not even get any uptravel at all, if you're lucky, you might even get 2 inches. Looks good though :waytogo:

Even these pictures just don't look as big as it looks in person. I think I need to get a picture of my standing beside it. I can sit underneath the truck.. hunched over a bit, but SIT under it. Oil changes are going to be difficult, because I will need to compensate for wind blowing the oil as it falls 2 1/2 feet to the bucket.

Isn't it a great feeling :D

I know exactly how you feel. Until you sit it next to something where you can compare the two, it doesn't look that big. Here is how mine sits. Doesn't look that big until you realize that the tires are off, it's almost on the ground, and still sits allot higher than my car. The second pic will give you an idea of the height with the tires on. My son and I were getting it ready to load on the trailer for our last wheeling trip.

And yes, changing the oil (especially with the tires on) can be rather messy if you don't put the drip pan on a box or something.

Whats it like building a rig in hawaii? seems like parts would get damn expensive, and the price of gas is nuts there too

your junk is WAY taller than mine.. or you're way shorter than me. My rad support is about with my arm pit.. I can put my arm in the engine bay, but I can't reach the air cleaner housing.

As for Hawaii.. you only buy parts that fit in USPS flat rate boxes (8.10, anywhere in the 50 states, takes a week). Anything bigger, you make. Not a lot of junkyards around, but theres literally a dozen or more m1008's for sale at any given point, usually for under $1000. I keep thinking I need to get a loan, buy 10, ship them to cali, and flip them, but the $900/truck shipping cost would kill the profit margin.

Gas is no worse here than cali..

I'm looking at buying a house after I move to FL. I think the deck on the house is going to get a convenient 'notch' to pull the truck into so I can work on it =)

I hate to burst anyone's "monster truck" bubble here but I think you'd be much better off leaving the sheet metal off (the fenders and bed) b/c the truck is going to be useless as it sits...I bet you'll rub just turning on pavement much less any uptravel (which I know you'll have plenty of with 56's)....anyways just my opinion...seems like its a logical solution...
