Bullet proof steering

I have a friend running their tie rod on his truck, he said he was very happy with it. If I wasn't going to dbl ended hydro ram, I would have ordered one of their rock tuff tie rods

Their website hurts my eyes, whats so special they have their own tie rod ends?

So they basically build tough tie rods with rod ends?

Looks pretty um overstated to me.

I especially like the rod end ( heim) comparision that looks like they are comparing a super cheap heim with a more expensive one.

Meh I am a fan of using actual tie rod ends but upgraded to the one ton stuff on a street driven rig. In 4 years of hard wheeling I had one TRE failure, and it was due to the fact I forgot to put the cotter back in and didn't tighten it down completely tight.

I have seen plenty of hiems fail in steering stuff too.

But like I said I am a fan of normal tie rod ends for street driven stuff

I must agree with blazinzuk about using HD rod ends on the street.

Seen plenty of rigs running heims that either fail or are responsible for some dangerous steering problems.

Looks to me like they are just using some heavy wall DOM tube threaded to accept the ends of choice and machining flats for a wrench.

Rod ends don't have a standard "off the shelf" thread, so the choice to use heims may have something to do with the availability and cost of the special tap:dunno:s..??

Holy Crap I thought I was the only guy that has heard of this place!

I bought there stuff for my crossover on my Jeep TJ way back in 1999. They have been around a while, I kinda forgot about them.

Good stuff. Been thinking about modifying my Dodge diesel truck to a more simple crossover setup using their stuff. Probably have to go with 17" wheels to get the ends to fit at the knuckle though...

The website does suck and I wasn't sure about the heims.... This will be on a possible daily driver.

is it me or does anyone else find it odd that the home page promo pic has a BENT rod in it

Wow

I tried to have an objective look at that product but my head hurts now.

Heims are a great steering linkage in the correct setting, IMO DD is not that setting.
Close quarters bends, Who the F cares, plus I would rather have the bend farther from the tapped tubing end to reduce stress on the threaded portion.
FYI most Heims are a standard thread just not what you see as standard.
Special DOM tubing, WTF

Glad I don't have epilepsy cause that site would have set it off big time.

There are other manufacturers out there that have the same product without all of the extraneous BS.

I've been running one of the "Rock Proof" tie rods for 4-5 years. The first 2 years was a daily driver. I have had no issues with the heims, they are just as tight today as the day I installed them.

As far as calling them "Rock Proof" I call BS...............more like rock resistant.

Now I should say if I didn't have a really beefy tie rod, I'm pretty sure I would have damaged the hydro ram.

Glitz and glam is not the name of the interweb game. The KISS method would be a better word for this company to utilize in order to make their site a little more easier on the eyes and user friendly. Good God! I was sliding my cursor all over the page looking for something to click on. Took a while but I finally found it. Once I got to the next page, I immediately closed the window. Too cluttered. :doah:

I'll stick with ORD. Simplicity at its finest.

10 seconds and I was done. That said, I've been running hiems for 8 years on a daily driver. Even bent the tie rod twice. Reused the bungs and ends.

sheesh, that site actually makes HAD's site look like Summit Racing's... :doah:
