i have an 86 k5 that has a terrible time with "bump steer" i have a new gear box, tie rod ends are good, new steering stablizer, etc etc,im running 35/12,50 tires, what else could be causing the shaky steering wheel problem?

You need to explain more. Shaky steering wheel is probably death wobble. Bump steer is when the suspension is extended or compressed you have to turn the wheel to keep the truck going straight.

Now what is it doing?

ohh i know about the death wobble ,my stabilizer was bad so i changed it and no more wobble but now going down the road i hit a bump or groove in the road and the steering wheel jumps and flops around almost like bad tie rod ends

worn out shocks, letting the axle move alot? maybe it is deathwobble. best bet it to lift the front tires off the ground and start shaking everything around. have someone move the steering wheel side to side while watching the drag link, tie rod, ball joints.

I think the spec is actually 3/16".

Have you checked the spring/suspension bushings? I would also reiterate check u-bolt torque. A buddy of mine had noticeable drive-ability issues when his were loose.

IIRC they say 0"-3/16" and you use the lower end for radial tires and the upper for bias tires.
