Bump stops

There was a discussion somewhere on here about that...
Some have used ones off of S10 blazers ,
And I believe some other newer stuff.
You can buy Timbren pieces too.

Yes I have found some on line but they don't give good dimensions. S-10? Front or rear?

I believe that guys were using the rear ones, but I would bet that you can look at several vehicles in a bone yard.

I'm looking at using Silverado bumps. I think they are a cellular composition & look simple enough to mount. Not to mention dirt cheap.

Somebody stands to make some money as a Timbren distributor. They don't make "bump stops", they make overload spring kits. As it works today you have to call certain distributors on the phone with part numbers and give a CC # over the phone. If somebody bought bulk in a few part numbers of "replacement springs" and sold on eBay or something it could take off.

I also found some energy suspension ones I amgoing to try. Again dirt cheap. eventually I am going to us air bumps so I rather not spend big money on them.

When I went salvage yard hunting recently ,I peeked under a few dozen newer GM trucks, both full sized and S-10's,and most of them had the bump stops either removed already,or the remains of them with the rubber gone except for right near the mounting base gone..torn off .
That tends to make me think they aren't that rugged..

I'd like to put some on the front of my '82 GMC K2500 ,the springs are pretty dead on it,only two leaf stockers, and the oem bump stops nearly touch even with no plow on it (SAG !)..

Even if it ends up riding on the bump stops all the time, any lift it gains will be an improvement..my front drive shaft spline is about collapsed all the way,and the front diff is real close to things above it with the springs sagging--if I hit a good pothole or go over some bad frost heaves I have felt the front shaft "bottom out" before..not good..--I fear the T-case might get "punched"..:(

I put a set of Timbrens on the front axle of my '86 K5, and they are greatness. The are a little more than twice as tall as my stock bump stops which worried me at first until I learned that they are progressive. Meaning the more they get squashed the more they resist the pressure. They helped me out a lot, and I can't say enough good things about them.

Are those for the front or rear ?..

I see they list both--but I'm not exactly keen on paying almost 200 bucks for a pair, when new 5 leaf front HD springs are almost the same price..

My brother used Timberns in his '79 E-350 box truck he converted to a beavertail car hauler and loved them--made it ride nice unloaded, and kept it from sagging with a heavy vehicle on the bed..

I put these on the front, but they make them for the rear axle too.
