It's not ignorant, It's illegal.

Have you seen any type of container, carrying any compressed gas, in any state that does NOT have a DOT stamp on it ???

{quote=gmcman7202]think about it, if the tank is pressureized, it will be harder to dent and damage

I will not be harder to dent. Gasses compress.

Au con-trarererer.... squeeze a coke bottle when new, hard. (Yes I know there is liquid in there). Open it, remove no liquid, and close it again. Now it's softer. Not saying if I like the idea or not, just that I think this is pretty simple....

Also, Power tanks, fire extinguishers, air tanks on semi's etc....All have to be mounted with DOT approved brackets.

Maybe our CK5 patrol officers/Troopers can shed more light on the subject and laws from different states.

Can you ABSOLUTELY guarentee that will always be the out-come, regardless of all other factors?

If your answer is yes then you've never seen PVC pipe explode from "ordinary air pressure." Yes, PVC is a different material, doesn't matter as I'm only using it for the visual. That is what brittle failures look like. If you don't think steel can do that you need to go back to school.

BTW, you should never, EVER point a blowgun directly on your skin. Ever heard of an Embolism ?It will kill you dead.

I remmber one time I was having my ingrown toe nails worked on. I was getting a digital block, or a local anestesia injected along the sides of my toe next to the nerves. The first foot was fine, then the trainee came in and damn near stuck the needle through my toe and injected a good few CC's of air in my toe. I've never heard a toe queef before. Guess I'm dead though, cuz embolisms don't have to be in major vessels or anything....

Why wouldn't you say something that is true, like debris getting embedded in your skin, which would be annoying and probably get infected and tattoo you, but not deadly.

But what happens in a crash, will it suck all the bystanders in?

it would happen like a nuke blow out then suck you in.It would have a range of hunders of miles, then the fall out would kill every thing. Ive seen it a hundered times, not a good thing.......:haha: :haha:

Ahunert times!?!?!??????????:haha: :haha:

I say nay because I wouldn't do it. Mostly because If you did punture it, it would be useless to get you home. You would "have to" have another means to air up a flat or low tire. I think there is plenty of room under the back by the bas tank to mount a tank out of harms way.

And a note from your mother!

For a 120-150 psi air tank, you don't need rounded ends or pressure testing or anything crazy like that. If you're using metal that's strong enough to be a bumper, it's plenty strong enough to hold up to a measly 120 pounds of pressure.

See the numerous rational posts before this one...

you've got the parental consent form confused with another member LOL...

anyways, i say build a truck out of pocketed sheet steel and use the whole damned thang to hold air

Roll your eyes all you want. See, I can do it too...:surepal: :surepal: :surepal: :surepal:

The bottom line is this-

Here at CK5 we don't publicly support anything that is either against the law or unethical. We don't encourage people to do things unless we know they understand the implications. We can argue theory and hypotheses all day long, but it is highly irresponsible of us to treat them as "fact" when our audience is unknown.

We are considered the experts- act accordingly, please.:deal:
