Has anybody seen this done, or done this?

I am getting tired of never having a good place to put my spare tire, and figure this may be just the ticket.

Here is my setup.

I bought my from a company that I refuse to name (horrible customer service and shoddy work). It was suppose to be bolt on, but they failed to tell me I had to have it fitted and cut the rear frame to get it to fit. Anyways, there a many flavors out there for rear tire carriers. Personally, Id hit up a fab shop and have them tailor make one to your truck, itll fit and you can see the process incase you want to make any changes along the way.

Rear Spare Tire Mount...

I found this somewhere on the Internet. I like the design and craftsmanship...

I'll likely be building one.

Tiregate, meh, It would work, but I prefer a solid tailgate.

Well it would be solid, in the structural meaning.

But I understand.
D44 spindle with a locking hub, affix that to an aftermarket bumper and go from there. The locking hub will allow you to lock it in whatever position you want and save the hassle of a latch. And it will more than handle the side loads of a full size spare.

why not take a tailgate, cut a recess out for the tire to set in, build a badass bracket to take the weight, voila

or why not a burban spare tire well design?

Putting the spare ON the tailgate would result in a heavy tailgate.

Trying to avoid that, it's already tough on my shoulders opening and closing the stock tailgate.

As for a burb tire carrier, I assume that one goes behind the wheel well?

If that's the case, I could, but I would rather not take up bed space.

Better option than throwing it in the bed randomly at least.
