first off... mendo..... just.... very nice , spank you for sharing.

and second, im a bicycle mechanic, i own more bikes than i probly should, and im trying to start commuting to work (28 mile round trip a day), i went to school in vermont, and yeah, it rubbed off, but ive always been a head case for renewable energy sources.

on the flip side, i own an 89 IROC with a 350 and a 86 blazer with a 6.2 diesel which i love taking offroading. The things youll notice about my cars though, is that all emissions equipment is intact, and im activley looking to convert the IROC to E85 ethanol (ill be able run an 11:1 compression on the new motor for better thermal efficiancy) and i want to run the truck on biodiesel, which has been prooven to provide the same or very similiar power with some drawbacks and some benifits.

also when looking at modern performance vehicles, the professionals, the people who really know what they are doing and write the books on high performance, run emissions equipment and focus on thermal efficiency and combustion performance. Mr. Banks, who some see as the leader in diesel performance, or at the very least a major player, is often quoted as saying black smoke is lost power. black smoke looks cool, but is evidence of unburned fuel caused by a poor swirl ratio. the modern corvettes got their power ratings through increased combustion efficency, and the 6.0L 400hp LS2 engines have gotten 30mpg on a regular basis on the highway.

fact is, motorsports performance and environmentalist tree hugging are not at odds with one another. they are on the same team, its just that you always get the throwback redneck shadetree grease monkey who is always quick to say "well shheeeeet you wanna make more power you gotta rip off all that emissions stuff, convert everythign to neanderthal status on the car, spew pollutants, get poor gas mileage, and piss off the liberals....... and oh yeah, destroy the planet." a computer controlled well tuned engine will always make more power, its been prooven time and time again.

so ill end by saying, i appriciate the good joke from time to time, i certainly love motorsports, burnin rubber, and having a good time, but that dosnt mean you cant make the effort to be responsible, and try to wear the hat of a redneck, and a tree hugger at the same time, its what i do.

This would be good to put in a sig...hummm
