I have live work project in my welding class to do so I'm gonna build some bumpers for the K5.How much clearance do I need behind the front plate to mount a winch?

I'm not sure yet.I wanted to get the winch before starting the bumper,but thats not gonna happen.I could probably get the dimensions for the winch,but I was'nt sure how far the fairlead needs to be in front of it.I've never mounted a winch bfore so I don't know where to start.I wanted to keep the bumper as tight as possible.

So mount the winch underneath the radiator.
You can then run some tube or Rectangle out to the ends and make it look however you want and it is real close. The only problem with this type of mounting is you have to have a remote solenoid pack you can't use one of the Warns that has the solenoids on the winch.

If you go to warns site you can get pictures with mounting diamensions on them.

8.5-9" depth will cover most winches!
This is entire mounting surface (base), not the distance between the winch face and the fairlead mounting surface.81jimmyslt said:
