Bushing Install

I picked up new bushings for my sway bar. What's the best way to get these things in? Thanks.

big press and bushing driver of some sort. r.b. = rubber bushing will bing up after so much movement from flex.



if me take back and buy polly ones like your lift springs have. thay pop in just as easy as the leaf spring ones do. the polly will flex 10x better than the r.b.

So you guys are running without the sway bar. Do you fabricate something in its place?

Still wondering about the sway bar elimination. Sounds unsafe. Anyhow, I ended up doing as sweet suggested and replacing the rubber with poly. Certainly easy to install (except for that one &*&^% bolt on the sway bar.

Thanks for the link. I can see the benefit of disconnecting the sway bar while off road. I would think it would make for uncomfortable regular driving though.

That was an interesting exchange of ideas. I'm thinking that you would really notice its absence with a stock spring setup. I have a 4" lift on my Suburban and the springs are pretty solid - nothing happens when you jump up and down on the bumper. I'm thinking I probably could have done without it. I also have a 69 Blazer so I might screw around with the sway bar off and on on that one and see how it goes. Thanks.

Sweet, I've been meaning to do that myself since my rubber ones are shot. Those are from ORD, or where'd you get 'em?

I got mine for a local 4X4 store here in Tucson. I bought a kit which came with all four bushings. It was $27. The bushings just pop right in. One word of advice: Get someone to help you put the sway bar back in as it is pretty awkward and a little heavy.

By the looks of the sway bar angle in your 2nd pic you should buy the disconnect kit to eliminate binding of the suspension, or at least some drop brackets for the frame bushings.

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering about that. I'm also concerned about my steering linkage. I've never screwed around with a lifted vehicle before so I'm learning as I go. I'll post a photo later.
