Buying a '92-'99 Suburban - vortech vs tbi

I am still looking for 6.5l subs. The clock is running though and 6.5l subs in my price range are rougher and higher mileage than their gas counterparts. They are few and far between as well.

I drove my sorry ass 7 hours round trip last night to look at a '96 1500 vortec that was said to "run perfect with no problems". Start it up and it sounds great. Put it in gear and the transmission makes the loudest growling noise. The transmission also would stutter? under heavy pedal. Wish they would have let me know.

I would love a 6.5 sub. I would also take an older 6.2 sub and add a turbo on it. I had a 98 6.5 K2500 RCLB with 5 speed and granny low. With 4.10's about 2" lift :hack::grind: and 35's it was a beast. Could throw a ton in the bed, pulled 7000 pounds with ease. But then the clutch started going, the motor went, and I wanted more than a single cab pickup.
