what would cause the buzzer to stay on when the key is removed and the lights are off? I have to shut the door (door switch) and the buzzer goes off.....

Is the door light on it's original circuit? sounds like you have a feed back to the module for the dome light.

Also, these trucks had buzzers? Thats news to me.
He's right though,about the buzzers never going bad---I was amazed at the junkyard, when I'd hook up a battery to a car that sat there 20+ years,and the first thing you hear is that stupid buzzer!..errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!...
does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can chase the gremlin down. The easy fix would be to follow all the comments above, but I enjoy the challenge of making all the little things work.
I assume the wiring diagrams linked in my signature would cover it.
My guess is going to be the ignition switch. IIRC there is a little tab that pushes up when a key is installed.
Headlights on/key off are the only other reason the buzzer comes on that I can think of.
Can you pull the key out while in a position other than off?

can not pull the key out in any other position. What I have notices is that the passengers door can be open and drivers closed no buzzer.... I have also notice that the passengers door can be open drivers closed and I get no dome light... I have not located the diagram and am wondering if it could be something to do with the passengers door switch?
Sounds like two problems.
1. The little contact in the ignition cylinder is stuck making contact
2. The passenger door switch is bad
Try removing the passenger switch and then grounding the wire. If the dome light comes on, the switch is bad.
