I believe I know the answer but need confirmation. Had the truck on the lift and and noticed some rot on the crossmember upon further inspection it is a lot more rot than I had thought previously. This is very bad right? As in the truck shouldn’t be driven. And also in order to properly fix it, it would be easier to just swap out the crossmember.
what years should I be looking for my truck is a 85.

I would not want to drive it like that, at least not very far or fast.
Unless I am forgetting something 73-87 should bolt right in. Or even up until 91 Suburban or 1 ton should work. As far as the crossmember itself I believe 3/4 and 1 tons are the same as 1/2 ton.
@kennyw probably knows for sure.
