C30: 454 or 6.2

Currently have a flatbed C30 with a 454 and 4 speed. Its a single cab with 86k original miles and it has A/C.

Thinking about getting it saturday. More room, better mpg. The question is will it pull as good as the gasser. I could live with a little worse performance for the added room and MPG's.

This is a tow duty only setup. Got a beater yota for the DD duty.

Well, diesel is back down to lower then gas prices right now, but who knows how long that will last.

i got a 6.2 with a banks turbo and tow about 5000lbs travel trailer,it does ok,never tried a 454 . but pretty sur they like gas

I manage 6-8 towing and 10-11 empty. Needless to say its not good. And with a 18 or so gallon tank, i have to stop and fill up way too often.
