I was surprised that there wasn’t a write up on this. Or maybe there is and didn’t find it. Lol.
My dad gave me his 96 Chevy dually. C3500. I thought I could use the Vortec in my blazer and get it stroked, but then hate to do that to a truck that was my dads that he bought new, but I have no use for a 2wd truck.
doin some research on solid axle swaps, I know it’s been done many times. But I also read that with 2wd frames, it’s possible to do coil springs. And while people say it’s possible, there’s not a lot of write ups on it. I just found one guy online that did it but never explained his setup. Someone on another site said could use a dodge axle, but again no explanation. I see there are many kits for leaf spring setups. Doesn’t it seem easier to try coil springs? Wondering if anyone recommends one setup over another. And what’s involved in a coil spring setup. I do have a D44 8 lug Chevy. But I could prob get another axle. I don’t have any plans on Tcase yet, just looking for maybe easiest or best way to do this. I’m goin down to haul it home today I’ll get some pics of the truck later. Thanks!!

I sas’d my c3500 crew cab, but went the leaf spring route.

Curios to see how it all pans out for you. I’m still not sold on the leaf spring route yet.

Just seems like a better idea to use the coil buckets since they are already there. But I can’t find any write ups on it. Someone told
Me 05+ Ford axle. But not sure if the coil buckets line up with the Chevy frame? I’ll have to wait and see till I can get to the junk yard next to measure.

They do not line up. I did measure that much. Like 3” too wide on both sides.

I can get some measurements though. What year of dodge axle are you thinking about?
No clue? I’m still doin research to find articles on coil spring setups. Hopin to find someone that did this setup and has info on it. I need to measure the spring width on my truck and see which axle lines up best.
