getting this doubler together torn between cable or linkage ! I understand the differences . But who’s running one or the other are the cables weak ? Help lol!

Cant say anything about the cables

The have a lever style from ORD. Zero issues installing or using.

Very little trimming to use the factory t case cut on a 77 k10

never played with cable setups .

always did the ord levers . no problems. i figure buying ord doubler kit why not there shifter setup for a 1 and done proven combo .

I feel the same way .

My answer... get some adjustable detents for the 205 (JB Fab sells them, maybe others). My reason... when I first installed my Doubler I had problems with shifter "feel" that I attributed to the shifter itself but now I'm fairly certain it's worn detent springs and rails in my 205.

All that said, I now have a JB Fab shifter waiting for install (as well as new rails etc) but had I been able to adjust the feel on the detents I'm certain I would have stayed with the ORD shifter. Misdiagnosis on my part.

Yeah but doesn’t sound like your gonna return the jb fab shifter lol

And you your running a 4500 right ? Did you get a flush mount kit ? Can you post some pictures?

no, I run a TH400/NWF planetary box/NP205

Below is a pic of the temporary spot I mounted them last year, they'll be mounted on a console tied to the cage this winter.

my only complaint with my 2 tripple stick ord shifters was not even there problem .

i found the 203 range box was way to soft on the detent spring . the lever for it would almost pop on a bump . this was just playing with it on the bench . so i took the bolt out that holds the spring and put a 5/16" nut in as a spacer after i ground the hex round on it . this made it 99% perfect match to a new pair of ord shift rails and stock 205 detent springs in the 205 i built .

i just dont see the need for adjustable detents if your parts are in good order / or you have cable shifters maybe .

Can’t comment on function yet, but I can vouch for JB customs quality. These are their billet style shifters. Its a little more pricey but definitely nice.

That being said, I’ve never bought something from ORD that I was disappointed in. I think you can’t go wrong with either. The deciding factor is probably more about where or how you want to mount it. You’ll have more choices with the cables, where you’re limited with the links.

i wasnt limited that much with the linkage of levers . my 1 truck i made the mount for them and moved it up a good 4"-5" from were they had it so i had it directly were i wanted it . but i was doing some crazy shifter setup on that truck with 6 levers . 1 for trans / 1 for pto pump on 205 / 1 for winch in/out control in cab / 3 for the doubler.

It all depends on the application.....once you're in bucket seats and a harness the cable systems provide the mounting flexibility for a more comfortable cockpit.
