So I purchased the lokar cable shifter for my 75 k5. Im trying to figure out the aluminum bracket that fits over the steering column. Seems like it either hits the firewall or the cable won't bend right. Anyone else run this set up?
I installed one for my 1987 K-5 with 700R4. Yes, it was a pain. I have a ORD 1" body lift, so I was able to mount the Aluminum Bracket/Arm pointed towards 8:45 AM (points towards drivers side fender) with the cable coming up over the driver side inner fender. Very tight and without the 1" body lift I'm not sure how I would have routed it. Took a bit of findling with the linkage to get all the shift points to match column indicator. Hope that helps.
Here is how I did mine. It doesnt interface well with the factory columns. I made a custom bracket that interfaces with the column tab. Also it feels a bit sloppy, and will take some adjustment to get it sync up with your dash indicator.
