Need either one of two things, either a female RCA stereo jacks to 1/4" mono plug, or one that goes directly from 1/8" stereo plug to 1/4" mono plug. How hard would it be to do this? Gonna be hooking a boombox up to a pair of guitar amps to use the guitar amps as regular big speakers for playing my drums along with CD's when my brother isn't here to play his guitar.

Where would I find the mentioned cable adapters or cables?

Adapting from RCA to 1/4" should be easy enough....

The only part that might be challenging, is finding an off-the-shelf cable to convert from stereo to mono.....

At this point in my life, I've got a huge box of interconnects and adapters....so when I need something weird, I can just cut up the wires I've got and solder them together to create what I need.

If you've got some old scrappy cables, you could try the same thing...cut the end off your 1/4" plug (the guitar cord?) and then splice the RCAs to it.

If going into mono, a stereo plug will work just as well. But a mono plug will not work going into stereo.

Radio Shack

Something along that line .

Needed one 1/8 mini to dual rca adapter , and two cords from rca to 1/4 ( OR RCA TO 1/4 ADAPTER AND TWO RCA CABLES . Run one cord to each amp . Simple .

That 1/8" mini is a stereo version... I think he's still trying to get a mono signal..???

BTW -> The giveaway in case people don't know is to look at the number of "stripes" on the shank of the plug. It the picture above there are two black insulating stripes, which means that the plug has three separate conductors (one for left, one for right, one for ground). If you see a plug with only one black stripe, you know you are looking at a mono cable....two stripes, it's stereo.

:wink1:

If he takes the boombox headphone signal , into two rca's , and put one into each amp , wouldn't that be be each channel on its own amp , and better anyway :d

and Radio Shack has mono adapters to boot too

But going into a mono jack both a mono or stereo plug will still work fine.
