Anyone know how to adjust the e-brake on the caddy caliper conversion?

I have a conversion on my 79 Ford pickup, and I drove off the other day with the E brake half on and now they don't work so good....in fact not at all. The brakes still work fine...they will lock up in a panic stop...

I pulled the tires off and looked at the pads and rotors ....there is plenty of pad left and the rotors are still like new.

When I push the E brake down the cable pulls the arms on the calipers to the end of their travel,,, but no braking... :dunno:

BTW..... The little 302 makes so much power,,, I didn't even know the brakes were dragging...:pimp::popcorn:
 
They are self-adjusted through the arm. You can press the pedal a billion times, or you can unhook the cable and spring and manually rotate the arm over and over again until the arm gets tight. Repeat for other side.
 
It adjusts when you use the ebrake. So if you pedal works the caliper ebrake push it a bunch of times and it should self adjust. Or unhook cable as was said and work the lever until it adjusts that way.
 
should I be able to hear it ratchet or click or something when I rotate the arm ?

seems like it didn't make a sound when I moved the arm back and forth...:dunno:

I'll try diconnecting the cable at the arm and move it back and forth to see what happens....:rolleyes:
 
No ratchet in the caliper. The only ratchet is in the e-brake pedal. The caliper has a sprag that makes the adjustment. The arm will rotate semi-freely back and forth while the sprag incrementally adjusts the piston towards the pad. Once it it roperly adjusted, the arm will have very heavy tension when you try to rotate it, pushing the arm back to it's stop should relieve the tension. At that point, it is properly adjusted.
