man rust sucks, when me and paul383 got done /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif on the 83 we must of had 10 pounds of rust in a trash can(that fell of the truck not the crap i cut of the truck). i can't wait for the 83 to be done that /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif will be big en /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

working on the 83 was the only time i used safty glasses, and i hate safty glasses.
 
paul I have some sheets of metal plate that are galvanized I got from my favorit steel dumbster..your free, next time you are over remind me /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
 
i think i have more at my house. we should get street signs and use those for floors. get my favrite street sign pavment ends /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif,dirt roads only please!
 
I'll take all the freebies I can get . Now I need some steel tube and a motor , and a ..............patience . Sure sometime this week . Tommorow my Ol' lady comes home , Tuesday I have to go pick up u-bolts , Wednesday probably springs for the rear , still need to hhok up with Rob to return the "green U-bolts (lol) , will have to be later this week , but thanks I want it /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
 
I've had numerous discussions against traditional frame mounted cages. I would recommend you keep the body/cage as a unit separate from the frame and mounted on body mounts rather than tying directly to the frame, which has already been discussed. If you look around in CoG (I think) there were a few discussions about this where I detailed my thoughts on it and how to approach it. I also did the boat-side for my son's never-ending-k5-project with mounts prepared for tying in a cage. Give me a call if you want to talk about it or come see what I did for him. You can also take it a step further do what I did with the truggy which is to actually form a "capsule" out of the cage/subframe.
