People do that same thing with bars that run just below the headliner of the roof. That way you have some room for a come-along or similar.

You can also just use your enigine hoist to lower it. Stick in side your cab and lift and lower as you need.

Esteban, that would work great for those of you who dont want to retain a full interior. for those of us that do, dragging a trans and transfer case through it isnt a good idea.

Your not lifting the tranny and t-case THROUGH the interior. You place the strap around the tranny and feed it through the tranny tunnel access panel. Then with the hoist inside the vehicle you hook the strap to it and drop the tranny to the ground. Then unhook the hoist and pull it out.

Ya, Harley and I did that to make room for a doubler. FYI a complete 203 has no problem snapping a 1" ratchet strap and can bounce high enough off of a furniture dolly to land upside down .

gotcha, the way you worded it, the mental picture i got was of a trans and transfer case sitting on nice clean carpet.
