I plan on building a cage at the end of summer. Would like to see what all you experts out there have built for yours and if your happy with it. I already have some good ideas, but I am sure I am forgetting somethings. It would be nice when its done to get a custom soft top made for it.

Dont know if you can SEARCH---Cage pics. There is about 3 pages of great threads.
Heres mine though.

Sweet KTM...looking good. Looks like you are doing what I am thinking about...going to link mine with Kings all around. What kind of travel are you getting in the front and rear?

Not bad at all, you get any driveline bind at all because of all that travel? Did you lengthen the wheelbase? Thanks...I might have to email you later for some details if you don't mind.

Hey twoslo...I am actually trying to build something that will do a little of both. Hi speed desert and some trail running too.

Had to do a little clearance work on the front CV joint. Very little. Back is no big deal. The SYE was added with a NP241 to keep from destroying another 208 out put housing.

Thanks so much guys. Very sweet rdn2blazer...looks like you have a lot of hours in that tube work. I did a little mini cage in my old Grand Cherokee for the rear 4-link. Was going to do a full cage but then sold it :(

Now that it is no longer driven on the street I will be adding some more tubes and gussets. I also plan to move the seat belt mounts on the bottom. They are ok for me when the seat is all the way back but for Donna and the kids the angle is a little much with the seat forward. It is tied to the frame. The sliders are tied to the frame in 3 spots on either side and the cage is tied to them. The 2 rear mounts are not tied in to the frame yet. I will do that after I install a fuel cell in the back and do some other work to it. I also plan to eventually hack the front off and go through the dash and out to the front.

Ignore mine being a truggy , the basic structure fits between the door openings and and the fenderwells . The rest was added after the doors and front clip were 86'd . Notice the starting point , thats a factory roll bar for a 75 :D

Hey guys, nice work. I cant wait to get mine done now and get some pics up here to share. And rdn2blzer, a beer sounds good! I actually already met Big Blzn the other day...he drove by my house as I was pulling out with my girlfriend and puppy. My puppy loves the backseat with the top off.

ZJ. Rob (rdn2...) has one of the nicest cages on CK5 and also check out, I think, 70jimmy on CK5. His is about as nice as you can get. BTW, did you say you weregoing to take the cage out soon and drive around all summer with out a cage or top on?:eek1: Remember where we live, a bunch of old ladies driving too a big Mercedes with dogs on their laps and on cell phones. Would hate to see you in an accident with one of them and no cage in your rig. That would be ugly. :D

Thanks Man! I agree, leave the cage in. Nothing cooler then a topless caged K5. Looks BAD ASS.

Hey Blazn, I probably misquote myself. What I meant was that I am going to build a cage in the near future, the original cage will stay in place until that happens. Then the hard top will go on for clearance issues. I might even go get some tubing this weekend? And yeah, there are some pretty stupid drivers around here for sure.
