Just picked up a 76 K5 with a buddy and it has zero smog equipment.........Anybody know what the laws require smog equipment wise on a 76?????? It has a 350 in it. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

California. The 16 year old kid and his buddies took all the stuff off and trash canned it. The thing runs awesome......just no smog on it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

well....from some of the paperwork that came with it....it'll pass emissions

it's just that damn smog check 2. it has to have all the equipment that it came with and it has to be functional or it won't "pass".

do you know any one who can smog it for you .if all goes well it will be smog exempt soon /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

You'll need the stock air cleaner with the hot air stove comming off the exhaust manifold, a PCV, and a evap. canister. I don't think you would need anything else. You could always take it to a smog shop and ask them.

Or give it 2 more years and it will be smog exempt.

I tried that .....they wanted to charge me for a pre test so they could tell me what was missing /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

I believe that it must also have a catalytic converter, although I know there was some rule about 79-earlier not requiring them, but that may only be for higher gvw vehicles /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

in my recent dealings with smog the test places just want your money atleast down here but the referee was glad to sit with me and point out all that i needed. also the chilton manual that i have has great schematics for a wide variety off years and size's of eng /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif
