california to indiana and back (trying to find a back haul to cal.)

i see your location,,,,"soon to be Kern county" ugh...:doah:

last time i was in Kern county, i was rolling SB up the Grapevine, stopped at the truckstop to "clean up" my log book, rolled through that scale at the base, they pulled me in for my annual inspection:doah:

ah well, no biggie as i knew my truck was fine, i'm picky about that, and i just upated the log,,, well turns out, i was having a brainfart with the book i guess,,,, everything checked out except my 70...

i was at 71.5 hours, SOOOOO, i got the wonderful little award for over hours of service, shut down and had to wait for more hours the next day. Luckily they were nice enough to inform me though, that as long as i was not hooked to the trailer, i could drive to the Flying J up a few miles ahead so i could have a place to eat, shower & fuel.

That sucked, cause that fine ended up costing me,,,, $650 :eek1::doah:

i was pissssssed. then they told me it wouldn't be in my driving record cause it wasn't considered a moving violation, i check my driving record several months later and there an "unsafe vehicles operation of motor vehicle" or something like that on there, i called them to complain, Cali told me they put all log bok violations on driving reports now.:doah:

Pretty much the final straw as to why i wanted to get out of driving trucks.

They have new rules now. if you have a single light out. [markerlight] They can stop you fine you and it goes on your record. Say your driving a company truck. It has 1 tire that dont meet there gauge rule. not enuff tread in the middle. Driver and company gets a fine with points on the drivers record. Its only 400$ for not having a log book. I think I wouldv,e told them i didnt have one . lol

Actually even if you don't get a fine:
I got pulled over in ID for not using turn signal to merge on highway(I did but he said I didn't) then says, I am not giving you a ticket but I will give you an inspection. Well the inspection went well no violations, I thought great.
I got another like that in CO said I was speeding then gives me an inspection (also wasn't speeding).
Then I DO roll thru a red light in NV and I get a full Level one inspection.
All these 3 mentions on inspections in the past 2 years got me a Unsafe driver on the new CSA2010 SMS report, at a 89% unsafe.:doah:
In most states they need an excuse to pull you over for an inspection so their seemingly harmless reason of turn signal made it into a serious violation "unsafe turn" and gave me points.
So it's not CA it's all the states now, so guys be carefull.
Sorry indy for the Hijack.
:dunno:
