I know some of you are either on Pirate or will have seen this on facebook.
Others not so much,

Save Johnson Valley

This petition, with 25,000 signatures, will go onto the Presidents desk. it's time to stand up and fight. You have to register but it only takes a minute and so far no black helicopters have been following me, I signed up for something several years ago too.

Don't wait, tell your friends, tell your family etc. Sit down now and do it.

And Mods, I'm gonna cross post the heck out of this so shoot me now.

It's posted in the lounge too, I've signed it.

The black helicopters just left my house they said they are on their way and sorry it took so long to get to your house :D

Signed and done, a couple days ago.

Thanks to those that have signed,

I'm really disappointed that this thread has only had 319 views, And like ten of those are me. Pretty sad that all anyone can bitch about is not having someplace to go wheeling but when it comes down to saving the largest OHV area in the country nobody can do anything about it.

Already done. Everybody wants to wheel, but very few show up to fight the closures. Dealt with that when they closed the areas west of there and Glamis. Everybody bitches, few fight.

It's pretty standard, I don't think that things have been this unified ever. Save the hammers is really doing a good job, Jeff Knoll literally took a year of his life to get things unified and moving in one direction.

I know that I never gave much attention to land use stuff and closures until the last few years. Honestly every outdoor sport that I do is under attack. Racing, rec wheeling, snowmobiling, high country site seeing you name it there is a movement to get it shut down.

I just wish that more people would come together and deal with these, I don't care if it's Maryland or California we all have the same intentions and desires but if it's not in your backyard you don't care. Problem is that everything needs to be considered your back yard.

I read the other day that SCORE pulled out of the USA totally, and will only be putting on BAJA in Mexico.....

Looks like all the lawsuits from people getting injured here in the states ran them off for good.....:dunno:

I dont think it works so well if its not something in your backyard though. Its hard for people to do as much. As far as physically being there, putting up signs etc. And you will find more driven people to help when it directly effects them. Do i like koh? Hellz ya its badass, but i doubt ill ever make it out for it, so i cant see a reason for me personally to feel obliged to do alot more than sign the petition and share it to my fb friends and ask them to sign.... Kinda like if silver lake sand dunes here was under attack,i doubt alot of you guys that arent from around here would come and help...... Not because you dont care, but its just not a part of your life as much as mine. :dunno:

Signing the petition is plenty Adam, if Silver Lake was under attack I would sign as many petitions as possible and I intend to make it all over the USA to wheel with friends. Might be 20 years from now or more but it will happen.

Thing about this is if it happens it really hurts the Off Road community. Virtually everywhere there is a closure it hurts us.

I used to be a compromising person when it came to land use. When asked now I am no longer in favor of compromises. I realize they must happen but if I am asked my stance, I am in favor of all public lands being open to wheeling all the time with virtually no restrictions at all.

Why such an extreme view, simple that is the view the other side has. All public lands closed, everywhere no matter what.

My dad had a friend we went camping with. I remember standing on a sand dune in Glamis, on the north side of the highway, when the whole thing was open. He looked at me and said, "some day, not in my life time, but probably yours, the only way to see nature will be to hike it or watch it on TV." I thought he as nuts. But then he took me to my first BLM meeting. I was 10 at the time.

Wow that's was 40 years ago.

Now I need a beer.

Done. I will most likely never make it there to wheel, but, hopefully those of you that do will be able to continue to do so.
