What would cause fuel to come bubbling up out of this hole? This things been loading up a lot, had a rebuild, ran for a bit, then just took a crap.

thanks for posting this while i was at work. I should also add that the needle and seat is new and held presure and also the float is set and in spec.

that is actually suppose to be a plug there. you remove the plug so you can adjust the main A/F mixture screw with out take the carb apart. if there is nothing there, there should be.

when i rebuilt mine, i adjusted that screw wrong (1/2 turn off) it ran extremely rich and would not idle worth a dam. it would load up and die, then take forever to start again and had to clean it out. turn out is richer, turn in is leaner.

Looks like MEPR has it turned WAAAAAY out. Sounds like a pretty simple problem then. So Dillon, is there a screw in there, or is that missing too?

Well from the looks of another pic I took earlier, I *think* I see the screw, which would mean no plug.

So is this the area in question then? Is that plug actually supposed to hold in fuel, or is it just supposed to keep dirt out? How many turns out is a good preset for that screw?

humm well i just ran that screw in tight. So if out is lean then that my problem. But i didnt read anything about that in my Q-Jet rebuild manual...

I barely moved mine between my 2 year emissions test , and forgot how much and surprised myself when I reset it to 2 out plus half turn more . I had mine out 4 turns , ran great blew too much co .

From what I read on the net , the quality rebuilds and Edelbrocks usually have the APT 2 turns out when purchased , another half turn is perfect in my case ( well maybe perfect , retest next week ) .
