Calling Certified Technicians

First let me say that i'm surprised that anyone would have the balls to do what you did from the get go.

Well, i don't have any Certs and i'm not even a tech but i've probably forgot more than alot of people on here will ever know (not trying to toot my own horn either, just stating facts). Once you're around here long enough you'll find out who is knowledgeable and who isn't regardless of any Certs or their trade.

There are alot of good folks on here that are more than willing to pay someones membership for them given certain circumstances or "just because" BUT they aren't going to do so until you've been around here for a couple years and they get to know you and you've proven worthy of such a nice gesture. :deal:

Well Im a cheapskate and was looking for a free membership so i hit up the webmaster about free memberships for certified technicians, with no response. Sure it may be unfair to the rest ,sorry life is unfair too, but it just may add to the forums

So lets see those certifications
I currently have
C1service consultant
A2 Automatic Transmissions
A8 Engine Performance

Im working on A6 Electrical Systems, and A5 Brakes

Ima professional doobie roller... sounds like your already stoned though :smokin2:

I have a degree in Automotive Technology and Diesel Truck Technology, and I have had some certifications. I don't give two ****s about them though, and haven't maintained any. I do know a lot of ASE Certified morons however . . . . .

I don't care if you are a "certified" tech or not. My feeling on this thread is that it is based on the GM truck world. Most own said GM's. Lots are not techs and have lots of real life experience with em.

Basically, one non tech guy posts up and says his blazer was making this noise, another non tech guy posts and says hey mine did the same thing and it was this. Original guy posts back and says hey that was the issue its fixed!

You don't need to be a tech to work on these damn things and sure as hell shouldnt get a free membership for being a "tech".

I have quite a few diesel certifications, Detroit, Mercedes...but to me these dont mean chit. I think the way a guy should get these certifications (instead of going to classes, taking tests etc) is have proof that you have torn and put together so many or whatever you know?

Life experience adds to these forums. Being a certified tech does not add to these forums.

Find a free membership elsewhere kthxbi:waytogo:

I'm a cerified toilet tech for boats...... no sh*t, pun intended... :D

so if anyone needs a toilet in your rig, I can help!:haha:

otherwise, I'll be in that corner over there.... :wink1:

I'm certified to operate a 4WD forklift, monitor erosion control for Wal-Mart, say "hey that's mold", working in a real eatate cert, and asbestos monitoring. With all of this non-auto, non GM certified education, my ASE and GM master tech brother still asks me a question from time to time. He's a paid member too.

In the 10+ years on this board that reaches most corners of the globe, your are the first that I am aware that thought his knowledge and certifications qualify him for a free membership. Prove your worth. Most people that I know that talk about their education to impress people are the stupidest out there.

Again prove your worth, be humble, you might learn something and gain some buds.

The ONLY person who should get a free pass IMO would be a GM engineer that engineered and built these trucks platforms  ...........

Not so fast :D. Wouldn't that be the person who is responsible for the weak twisting frames, self-destructing auto transmissions, axles that are too small and spontaneously combust, too short of a wheelbase on the K5, wonky steering geometry, and whatever else there is that I can't think of right now? In short, THE person whose fault it is that all of us are constantly in the process of upgrading something on these trucks?? :D

Yeah, but if it wasn't for all that, what would we do with our free time?

This is a rough place around here, ignore the guys that are giving you a hard time.

I would suggest going over to Pirate4x4 and private message dieselmh He is in charge of free memberships over there and a great guy. Im sure he would see your certs as a valuble asset to there site.

you have a valid point................. we'll let him in for free, let him get comfortable and when he is least suspecting it.........................

:haha::eek1::eek1::haha::doah:

Im one exam away from a Master ASE. I have never liked auto transmissions, probably why I failed. I took 3 per day for 3 days, with the service specialist.

So.. what does this mean?

It means squat.

It doesn't make me BETTER or more WORTHY than anyone else on here.

Look how long I've been a member. Heck, if anything I should have an AARP discount given how long I've been here.

There is hands on knowledge and "know how" regarding these particular trucks that cannot be obtained easily. Members here have a passion for these rigs; its not just a "job" or "schooling".

A lot of us are in tough times- and if you can't afford a membership, then don't get one. The garage is free, and most of the forums here are free to read. You can't expect a forum to be free from cost- and the cost offsets not having crappy ads or selling collected info to deliver ads to you.

I am certified i have a jacket that says so.........i have been telling people where to go and the best place to place their head on these forums for over 10 years now. And gladly pay for the privilege
