I've got an 85 K10 with a relatively new (4000 miles) goodwrench 350 in it. Its completely stock except for the Edelbrock carb, performer intake, and Hooker longtubes. It has decent power, but of course I want more:D. I'm tight on money (as usual) and was wondering if its even possible to drop in a slightly lumpier cam without having to get new heads etc. I dont want anything crazy, just something that would perk it up a bit with a little rougher idle. Maybe an extreme 4x4 cam from Comp, but I dont know if I could do that without having to really build up the motor. Someone told me I could get away with it if I used the 262 from Comp? But I dont know though..Also it has 31's and 3.42 gears, 700r4 trans. Thanks.

I've used both the 254/262* .447/.462 and the 262/270* .462/.480 Extreme 4x4 cams from Comp. If I had to do it again...I'd go with the 262/270* cam. The motor makes great power, idles well and gets decent millage.

The only change you may need to do is the valve springs. I don't rember the specs on the recomended ones. If you can find out what you have now...they may work. Or just do the safe thing and replace them.

I would get the springs to match the cam, that will allow it to perform to its full potential.
