My slide in has been treated like the trailer trash it is.
while long term plans were to renovate it inside and out, for now I need to fix the sagging upper bunk. I suspect rot has invaded due to multiple fine caulking jobs around the front windows.
Anybody familiar with the construction and where to begin tearing into it, without it becoming a snowball project? Just need to get it usable again for now.

There is no easy way around that. Sides need to be pulled out and the front wrap around panel folded out up to the roof. I did one for a guy 20 years ago. What a pain.

oooof, thats what I was afraid of.

I assume these frames are 2x2 wooden structure? My trailer was, and the roof was 2x3…so actually 1-1/2 x 2-1/2.

Obviously that bunk has been overloaded! (somebody had to say it.)

First of all, silicone should not be used on campers, or even acrylic caulk. There are proper sealants available, like Geocell and you should be able to get a matching color.

I had a camper where the aluminum siding had pulled back from one corner. The PO had "fixed" it with drywall screws and silicone :doah:. I took it apart and replaced all the bad wood and had to figure out some fabrication for the strange corner angles (like you have at the front). There should be screws that hold it all together, probably hidden by the aluminum corner channel, but it's possible that's only stapled. It's a ton of time, but nothing super technical about it. If you do a good job with it, it will be better than factory.

It was planned to go in the 76 CCDRW!
