I keep looking at different applications for camper shells on my 78 long bed. No one lists that particular application anymore. Does anyone know a more modern truck that has the same bed dimensions? I am not able to get down to the junk yard to measure some trucks but I know something will fit so gimme some feedback here.

N0.2 I will be buying some new spray in bed liner. In the past I have used Raptor liner with great success but I know there is newer better stuff on the market or at least I think there is. Cost versus quality the rating sites choose Herculiner? I would not have seen that one coming unless they have really stepped up their game without me knowing. Last time I used it I hated it. Al's liner is good looking stuff although I have never used it.

Are the beds much different from say an obs? I mean, all the kids think they're squares anyways:dunno:

I don't "Think" they are but I don't know for sure. Reason I wanted one of you good fellers that have a camper shell on your square to speak up....or at least measure a few comparatively. Much easier to call Leer or whomever with a more modern application that we know will fit.

Too bad you don't have a short box. I know of a mint condition leer for a square short box.

I know the GMT 400 truck beds aren't the same, they taper down at the front ..friend tried swapping the cap off his '80 GMC to an '89 and was pissed to find his cap hung over the front sides by about 3"--and his slide in camper wouldn't fit it either..

I've had temptation to find a cap that'll fit my 8 foot stepside bed ,in winter it sucks hauling a ton of snow everywhere,or shoveling it out,but the size is a one off orphan as far as I can tell,I have measured others and nothing comes very close..
I could bolt a few 2x10's on the bed rails and use a cap I have off a fleetside bed, that is too wide, but I decided not too..I'm not that fond of the cap blocking your rear vision..but it would be nice to have stuff in the bed stay dry too..

My main goal is to protect the bed here in winter. I don't pull many trailers with this truck. I do take it hunting a good bit and it would be nice to put the birds and dogs in the back protected from the weather.

Don't worry about the birds. After you shoot em and the dogs bring em back, a little rain or snow wont bother them a bit . . .
