Looking to get a shell for my crew cab, prices are all over the place on these things.

Will shells designed for newer trucks fit our older trucks?

Will any shell designed for an older truck fit our chevys?

Anyone with specific info would be appreciated.

I have never even looked at these before so I have no idea about anything.

i do know we as 73-87-91 have square box rails.

i know the 88-up box tapers in when it goes to the back.

i tryed to slide a full tool box from a 83 i had to a 88 new body i had. when i got the the end of the new box it wouldnt fit. :doah:had to unload it and set it in the front of the new box.

so with that make sure you check fitment.

the angle of the cab is more tapered on the newer trucks too, you can fit a newer designed shell on the older truck, but some work towards the rear will need to be done, and also at the front of the shell, the top will damn near be hitting the top of the cab, but sit fine on the bedrail.

To me, it just doesn't look right.

My dad owns a company that custom builds camper shells. I remember him telling me that 73-87, 88-98, 99-06, 07- trucks all fit differently. I think that some years like 80's fords will fit on 73-87 trucks, but am not sure. I do NOT work here, and am not trying to sell anything, but if you need some info this is the website: www.caravancamper.com If you call my dad, he should be able to answer alot of your questions.

The sticker in the glove box of my Camper Special has something about A-B dimensions listed. Maybe that would also be listed on the tag on the camper shell?

*Oh, I thought we were talking about slide in campers. I'm guessing a topper is actually what this thread is about.

I want another Caravan Camper so bad when I get another truck one of these days. I had one on my 86 Ford and I loved it. Your dad makes a killer camper dude.
